Architects of Air By Alan Parkinson
LuminiMax
LuminiMax is an immersive experience created by Alan Parkinson.
Almost 40 years ago Alan had the concept for a visually captivating sensory experienceand he created the first of his Luminaria installations.
Since his first concept, Alan created Architects of Air. His team at AoA has designed and developed more than 30 different Luminaria installations that have been exhibited in more than 40 countries around the world where guests enter their art installation to experience light and color in a magical way throughout this exhibit.
The LuminiMax exhibit is the only exhibit at Illuminate that will open early—2 PM on Friday and 1 PM on Saturday and Sunday—and run until 10 PM each night. There is a limit to the number of guests inside the exhibit at any one time, so be sure to come early so you don’t miss your chance to experience LuminiMax and see how light can transform space, thought, and emotion.
Accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties and indicated by a sign.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (a minimum of 1 adult for up to 4 children)

Calidos
Loophole
From Barcelona to Owensboro, the visionary team at Calidos is bringing their light to downtown Owensboro. Loophole is an interactive spiral of light and form – a sculptural experience that will be sure to draw you in. This installation includes metal circles that shape a half toroid and create an endless nighttime light animation loop. Known around the world for their large-scale installations, Calidos blends visual art and technology in unforgettable ways...and Loophole is no exception.

A Sky Full Of Light
Be mesmerized as 300 synchronized drones take flight over the river in a breathtaking 15-minute spectacle choreographed to music. This cutting-edge show transforms the night sky into a living canvas—painting vivid imagery, dynamic patterns, and iconic shapes that pulse and move in perfect harmony with the soundtrack. Every note sparks light in this one-of-a-kind performance where music and visuals collide. Renowned pianists transform McConnell Plaza into a glowing concert hall, merging timeless songs with dazzling light displays that pull the crowd into the rhythm all night long.

Shipping Container Murals
Two massive shipping containers will transform into living canvases right in the heart of West 2nd Street. World-renowned artists Aaron Kizer and Art of Kacy will bring their bold visions to life in real time on the exterior walls. Step inside and you’ll find a gallery of creativity, featuring original works from talented Owensboro Public Schools and Daviess County Public Schools students.
Tranquility
Discover a glowing oasis made for reflection and beauty. Tranquility transforms the Atmos Courtyard at the RiverPark Center into a dreamlike garden with illuminated trees, gentle water features, and the soothing music of a live harpist. Step away from the energy of the festival and into a peaceful space designed to calm and inspire.
AARON KIZER
Aaron Kizer Mural
A stunning new permanent mural by legendary artist Aaron Kizer will be unveiled in the heart of downtown. This dynamic artwork offers a unique experience—appearing slightly different by day and night. Be sure to stop by during the day to see how natural light hides some details and layers from its nighttime glow.
The mural unveiling will take place Friday at 7:30pm at the Riverfront Crossing (Off 2nd Street across from the Courthouse)

Vivid Volume
